Keeping Fit

The background for our drama this morning is the Bible reading, which is 1 Timothy 4:1, 6-12.
Puppet Dave is keeping fit.

Drama: Keeping Fit

SCRIPTURE:     1 Timothy 4:1, 6-12

Kelvin:        Hello, eh, I've got Dave with me this week

(Dave starts bobbing & jogging & counting. Up,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4)

Kelvin: Dave what on earth are you doing?

Dave:          Oh Hi up 2,3,4, I'm exercising, up 2,3,4 this is the new me.

Kelvin:        Can I ask, What was wrong with the old you?

Dave:          Everything, according to Instagram, up 2,3,4.

Kelvin:        Can you stop a minute, I'm getting dizzy trying to talk to you!

Dave:          Sure, phew, that's a relief!

Kelvin:        Well, say hello to church

Dave:          Hello church

Kelvin:        Now then Dave, what's all this about the new you??

Dave:          Well, everyone's so health conscious these days! Instagram tells me how important it is to high protein drinks & get plenty of exercise, I do none of that, I'm a right mess!

Kelvin:        You aren't in such bad shape!  It is important to take good care of the body God has given us but we need to keep fit for spiritual health aswell.

Dave:          What do you mean, think about my spiritual health?

Kelvin:        Well you mentioned a balanced diet, yeah,

Dave:          Yeah

Kelvin:        Your body will go flabby on junk food, right

Dave:          Right!

Kelvin:        Well, your spirit can't thrive on social media junk like Instagram. You need good portion of God's word every day.  That's good spiritual food.

Dave:          I never thought of it that way.  I suppose you're going to tell me about spiritual exercise now?

Kelvin:        How did you guess.

Dave:          Well how do I exercise my spirit?

Kelvin:        We exercise our faith by praying and reading our bibles and then when obeying the word not just reading it.

Dave:          We need to know what God says and do what God says. Right?

Kelvin:        Right.

Dave:          OK, I wont get too carried away with this fitness lark!  Knowing God’s Word and doing Gods will is a healthy spiritual life.

Kelvin:        Spot on, Dave!

Dave:          Do you fancy running on the spot with me?

Kelvin:        Me!  I’d fall out of my wheelchair.

Dave:          It’s just that you are looking a bit flabby!

Kelvin:        That’s very personal, Dave. Ok, how does it go then, up 2,3,4, 1,2,3,4.

Dave:          That's it you're doing great, 1,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4, I’m getting tired now, I think I will have a lie down. Bye everybody!
